What's New with Us?
In the past few months:
- Justin passed his B groundwater license test. YEA!!!
- I started taking a class in Parish Lay Ministry that has been extremely enlightening and informative - and a great deal of work on the reading that I am nowhere near caught up on.
- Our oldest son announced at our family reunion in August that he is getting married in March. I must finish the girls flower-girl dresses by Christmas if I am going to have any hope of finishing them.
- Our younger son started back to public school as a senior. (Boo Hoo!) He got to play his first game last Friday. We were 45'ed early in the third quarter. (6-man football rules.)
- Our girls, even the 21 month-old, began dance last month. They are both enjoying it.
- The 21-month-old gets into EVERYTHING, making it very hard to take time to write. As a matter of fact, I think she is getting into something right this minute. <Sigh!> I can't keep up with the messes she can make faster than I can clean them up.
- We have been reading a great deal. Our older daughter has just AMAZED us as to how well she can read at not even 5 years old. (She turns 5 next week.)
- We adopted a dog from the neighbors next door. She had always been a great dog with the girls and knew who she can play rough with and when to sit still. We also adopted a calico cat that adopted us back. We found out shortly thereafter that she was pregnant. She had 6 kittens. The cute little black runt died the day that I began reading, "Charlotte's Web" to the girls. Our older daughter cried for days. I haven't had the nerve to finish the story where Charlotte dies. I'm not sure if I will...
- I got to go to a Women's Conference in Abilene and had a great time. Justin had a nice time with the girls and his siblings that weekend.
- We have been trying to get ready for Living History Day with our homeschool group. I have to finish making the Laura Ingalls Wilder-style prairie dress four our older daughter as we have been reading that series together.
- The baby likes to color. She is currently Smurf blue on many parts of her body for coloring with the washable blue markers.
- I have been elected as a board member for our Northern-Texas, Northern-Louisiana Synodical Women's Organization because I don't have enough going on already.
- We bought a new pop-up camper. We are still trying to get all the pieces parts for the car and camper to hook up and trying to find time to go camping, but we hope that we will get to by New Year's, anyway. Justin has to work both Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and weekends following. I am going to a meeting Thanksgiving weekend.
- We bought a swingset for the girls (to help give them something to do outside that is fun, where I can watch them while I work around the house, but haven't managed to get it home yet due to crazy schedules.
- For those interested in our health progress... I got down to 195 lbs, but gained back up to about 203 lbs for a few weeks. I'm down to 198 lbs again and still losing. I took my blood pressure and heart rate at the grocery store this evening: 102/62, 72bpm.
- Justin can't seem to break below 200 lbs and stay there. His blood pressure is much better on the new medicine. Tonight, his BP and HR were: 123/86, 89bpm.
- My computer has been less-flakey, but still slow.
- I have a fairly big project to complete, in addition to my homework for my PLM class, board member position, homeschooling, wife, mom, etc.
For anyone who wants to check in on us, please say, "Hi!" if you have time. I know everyone else is just as busy as I am and it is an honor that anyone takes that time to stop by. Please understand that it is not for lack of desire that I have been unable to keep up with our website, but lack of time and patience since everytime I attempt to update this, the girls get into something that takes away my attention. I will update as I can. I do try to stop by websites to say, "Hi!" but with my slow computer, if there is music on the site, chances are I won't be able to because by the time the page downloads, someone here is into something new. I will do my best, though.
Hugs,
Tammy
